Caraway is part of the carrot family and grows wild almost everywhere in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Caraway seeds contain essential oils and have a spicy-aromatic taste. In tea, whole dried cumin seeds are used. They are mostly harvested before they fully ripen, since this is when the essential oil content is at its highest.
